Increasing trade equates to a stronger, growing economy, delivering more jobs and opportunities for Tasmanians. Though the Department of State Growth’s Trade team, we are committed to empowering Tasmanian businesses to maintain, and grow trade in the dynamic national and international marketplaces.
Through the whole-of-government Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019-2025, the Trade team works closely with Tasmanian businesses and industry organisations to address export barriers; support competitiveness; assist businesses to develop skills and strategies for industry and trade growth; open doors and build international relationships; and promote our collective strengths to expand opportunities in existing and emerging markets and broaden awareness of Tasmania’s unique quality in key markets.
Under the Trade Strategy, the Department of State Growth is committed to releasing Annual Action Plans that detail the coordinated trade and sector-specific actions to promote Tasmania’s trade opportunities.
Our team are based in Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie and also provides dedicated Tasmanian in-market presence in China, Japan, Singapore and the United States, including access to multiple trade support offices across the globe and a Tasmanian Defence Advocate Advisor, offering Tasmanian businesses direct access to multiple market intelligence and connections to grow trade.
