Tasmania’s trade sector continues to grow, consistently outperforming national averages.

    The Tasmanian Export Awards are held annually to celebrate the success of Tasmania’s top exporters.

    This year’s Tasmanian Export Awards will focus on those exporters who have embraced new technology, developed new products, or expanded into new markets in response to COVID-19.

    The Tasmanian Export Awards 2021 is listed as a priority action under the State Government’s Trade Annual Action Plan 2020-21, with Trade Tasmania managing the awards program in line with Austrade’s National Export Awards Program.

    Hosting the Awards is helps to build capacity within the exporting community, which is a key priority under the Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019-2025.

    National categories

    There are 13 national categories open for nominations, including:

    • Advanced technologies
    • Agribusiness, Food and Beverages
    • Creative Industries
    • E-Commerce
    • Emerging Exporter
    • International Education and Training
    • International Health
    • Manufacturing and Advanced Materials
    • Minerals, Energy and Related Services
    • Professional Services
    • Regional Exporter
    • Small Business
    • Sustainability

    Every State and Territory in Australia is hosting their own awards program, with the winners from each category going on to represent their State/ Territory at the National Awards in Canberra later in the year.

    All State/Territories are managing applications through the National Awards centralised portal.

    Tasmanian Businesses who are looking to enter and need some assistance to write their application can access the Export Awards Applicant Support Program.

    Interested businesses are to read the Program Guidelines and apply via the link to Smarty Grants

    Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm Friday, 6 August 2021.

    State-based categories

    This year Tasmania has included two state-based awards as part our local awards ceremony. These awards are to be presented by the Minister for Trade.

    The ‘Minister’s Award for Tasmanian Export Leadership’ is selected from the winners across the 13 national categories.

    The ‘Minister’s Award for Tasmanian Young Exporter 2021’ is presented to an individual under the age of 35.

    To apply for this award send the following to trade@stategrowth.tas.gov.au

    • Name of nominee
    • Contact details of nominee (email and phone)
    • Date of Birth (may be requested to provide evidence of DOB at a later stage)
    • Describe how he/she has contributed to the export success of your organisation and how winning this award would recognise, reward and inspire the nominee to continue to build his/her career and further contribute to the Tasmanian exporting sector (500 words maximum)

    Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm Friday, 6 August 2021.

    Winners can leverage the prestige to boost brand and reputation and will have access to premium networking opportunities, accelerated trade pathways and will be recognised at the highest levels.

    This year attractive state and national category award winners’ packages will be offered. These are detailed below.

    Winners will be announced at a gala awards event in Devonport in 2021 at the paranaple convention centre.

    This will be the first time ever the awards are held in a regional town, in recognition of the contribution our regional centres make to trade in Tasmania.

    230 tickets to the dinner will be offered in mid-August. More information to come.

    100 of those will be reserved for VIPs, Sponsors and Finalists and 130 made available to the exporting community via Expressions of Interest.

    The black-tie event will bring together Tasmania’s leading and emerging exporters for an evening entertainment and dining. Commencing with networking drinks, the event will be hosted by a noted MC, with a three-course meal served to all attendees.

    Our Awards Partner and Sponsors are key to the success of our event. This year’s Awards Partner and Sponsors to be announced shortly.
