About the awards
The Tasmanian Export Awards program is delivered annually to grow, celebrate and promote the state’s exporting achievements.
State winners of the national categories go on to be finalists in the 60th Australian Export Awards (delivered by Austrade).
The Tasmanian awards program and gala dinner event is delivered by the Tasmanian State Government, aligned to the Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019-2025.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE TASMANIAN EXPORT AWARDS ARE NOW CLOSED.
Austrade hosts a centralised application portal where the states and territories manage their awards program entries. Entries for both the national and state-based award categories are completed and submitted via the portal.
National category awards
Before you start your application for one of the national awards it’s important to review the category descriptions, eligibility and judging criteria. An application preview is also available.
Category | Description |

Advanced Technologies | For outstanding international success in the field of information technology (IT), digital technologies, software, hardware or digital services including solutions utilising cloud-based platforms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet of things (IoT), augmented/virtual reality and/or blockchain. |
Agribusiness, Food and Beverages | For outstanding international success in the field of agricultural products, services or technology including farm production, manufactured foods and beverages, forestry and fisheries. |
Creative Industries | For outstanding international success across all creative industries including music and performing arts, film, television and radio, software and interactive content such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), writing, publishing and print media, architecture and design and visual arts, and digital games. |
E-commerce | For outstanding success by an Australian business in selling goods or services to customers overseas via an electronic network. Includes cross-border e-commerce and online sales. |
Emerging Exporter | For outstanding export achievement by an enterprise in any industry sector which has been exporting goods or services for three years or less. |
International Education and Training | For outstanding international success or learner/student experience in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum including vocational training. |
International Health | For outstanding international success in medical, healthcare, biotechnology fields for products, technology, equipment, or services. The includes E-Health, Digital Health, Medtech, Aged Care Services, Complementary healthcare, Biotech, and Pharmaceuticals. |
Manufacturing and Advanced Materials | For outstanding international success in manufacturing, engineering and/or advanced materials development. This includes production of consumer products. |
Professional Services | For outstanding international success in the professional business services including legal, accounting, administration and support services, business management, marketing services, franchising and licensing, engineering, financial and insurance, market research, tourism, and translation services. |
Regional Exporter | For outstanding international success by a business whose head office and/or majority of operations are based in a non-metropolitan location. |
Resources and Energy | For outstanding international success in the production, processing, value adding of extractive resources or provision of equipment, services or solutions related to the resources and energy sectors. |
Small Business | For outstanding international success by any business with total annual sales not exceeding $10 million. |
Sustainability | For outstanding international success in environmental solutions, clean energy innovation, materials and energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste and water management, green buildings, smart cities and R&D collaboration. |

Tasmanian Defence Industries Exporter of the Year | For outstanding achievement and capability of a Tasmanian business in designing, adapting, manufacturing and/or growing export sales of world-class products, inputs or services into global defence industry markets.

Tasmanian Exporter of the Year
An overall winner from the national category winners will be selected by the Tasmanian Government and awarded Tasmanian Exporter of the Year, in recognition of their outstanding success.
To achieve Exporter of the Year you must apply in one or more of the national categories.

Gala dinner
Tasmanian winners will be announced at a Gala dinner event in Hobart in late September 2022.
The black-tie event will bring together Tasmania’s leading and emerging exporters, industry and Government for an evening of entertainment, networking and fine dining. The event will be hosted by the Premier and Minister for Trade, the Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP.
Invitations to the gala dinner will be extended to all applicants. Attendance from other interested parties will be via a registration process. Further details will be made available via this webpage and announced on Trade Tasmania’s LinkedIn, closer to the event.
