Women on Boards

The Department of State Growth is committed to diversity and inclusion, including the achievement of gender equity in its workforce. This extends to board memberships.

The Tasmanian Government's Women on Boards Strategy 2020-2025 set a target of 50% representation of women on Tasmanian Government boards. The department applies the actions set out in the Strategy to promote women for membership as new appointments are made.

The Government Board Diversity Scholarship Program, a joint initiative of the Tasmanian Government and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, aims to increase the number of Tasmanian women with the skills needed to serve as a company director and as members of government boards and committees.  More information can be found on the Department of Premier and Cabinet website.
