Savour Tasmania 2024 – for Tasmanian businesses

The Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019-2025 (the Strategy) details a whole-of-government approach to build trade in key sectors, through sector-specific trade events and visits, in both domestic and international markets. Food and agribusiness and tourism are identified as key sectors.

The food and agribusiness sector excels across a diverse range of product categories, many aimed at premium niche markets both nationally and overseas. This, combined with the Tasmanian moratorium on the commercial release of genetically modified organisms, sees Tasmanian produce highly sought after across the globe.

Trade Tasmania is committed to increasing opportunities for Tasmania food and agribusiness businesses to grow their trade connections and networks, to promote their products and brands, and to increase Tasmania’s export capacity to $15 billion by the year 2050.

The inaugural Savour Tasmania 2024 program will be the first multi-market inbound buyers’ mission supported by Trade Tasmania since the disruption of COVID-19.

What is Savour Tasmania?

Savour Tasmania is a premium buyer’s mission seeking to showcase both established and emerging Tasmanian exporting businesses through a 5-day program of events and activities across the state.

Selected international buyers, importers and category managers from major retailers, from priority markets as identified in the Strategy, will be invited to descend on Tasmania to meet growers and producers in the seafood, meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, packaged food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage industries, from 29 July to 2 August 2024.

Savour Tasmania provides a platform to invite follow-up from buyers, importers and distributors, as well as Australian consolidators representing international buyers, from markets where Tasmania has recently conducted Trade and Tourism or Trade and Investment missions, as well as participated in domestic and international trade shows.

Savour Tasmania will also highlight Tasmania as an exceptional food and beverage focused holiday destination.

Savour Tasmania 2024 - Expressions of Interest

We invite Tasmanian food and beverage businesses who are established or emerging exporters to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to participate in the Savour Tasmania program.

While the Savour Tasmania 2024 program is under development, it is likely to include:

  • Differing itineraries across Tasmania, pending industries of interest to buyers. This will be determined by a buyer EOI process early in 2024 and may include any or all of the following: seafood, meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, packaged food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • A mini-trade show or speed-dating event (this will be mandatory for all participating businesses to attend).
  • A welcome dinner.
  • An evening networking event.

As part of the Savour Tasmania 2024 EOI we are asking if businesses would be interested in, and open to:

  • Providing product samples or collateral for inbound buyer welcomes packs.
  • Providing product donations or in-kind support of events during the 5-day program.
  • Providing a unique on-site experience, or behind-the-scenes tour of their premises.
  • Incorporating a morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea into their site visits or behind-the-scenes tours, where appropriate and possible.
  • Providing the contact details of any trade connections they have in key international markets who may be interested in hearing about the Savour Tasmania 2024 program.

As part of your Savour Tasmania 2024 participation, you will agree to:

  • Participate in events as noted above, where relevant and applicable.
  • Participate in mandatory brand storytelling and pitch deck development training.
  • Participate in any other identified pre-event training and briefings.
  • Provide business logos and information for a supplier directory (hard copy).
  • Register or update your businesses listing on the Trade Tasmania Directory (online).
  • Host meetings, product tastings, facility/farm tours, or unique experiences at your business, where included in any itinerary (this may not apply to all participants and will be based on your EOI submission and itinerary timings).
  • Complete post-event surveys and feedback at regular intervals post the event.

A participation fee of $500 (excluding GST) per business will apply to participate in the Savour Tasmania 2024 program.

Submit your expression of interest

Expressions of interest to participate in the Savour Tasmania 2024 program have now closed. Businesses who submitted and EOI will be advised between late-February and mid-March of the outcome.
