Rapid Response Skills Initiative

Have you lost your job in the last 12 months and want to do some training to get new skills?

The Rapid Response Skills Initiative (RRSI) may be able to help. It provides funding for training for people who have lost casual, full-time or part-time work in the last 12 months due to retrenchment, business downsizing or closure.  This also includes self-employed people (sole-traders or partners in a partnership) who have closed their business.

What can I use the funding for?

There are a lot of different options that you can use the funding for including:

  • occupational tickets and licences, and/or
  • formal education and training (eg. TasTAFE, other Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers or universities), and/or
  • non-accredited training that is recognised by professional bodies, employers, and other authorities in an area of skill and employment demand - approval or otherwise will wholly be at the discretion of Jobs Tasmania.

To help you decide what training is best for you, you will get free career advice through Jobs Tasmania’s Career Connector service. If you are eligible you will be able to access up to $3000 to pay for suitable training and licences to help you find another job.

Your Career Connector service provider will be able to help you decide what training would be best for you.
