The Tasmanian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the election for the Tasmanian House of Assembly. It is important during this time that Tasmanian Government resources are not used to communicate political material. As such, no political or election material will be placed on this site.

Southern region bus service changes

Bus routes and timetables are changing in Southern Tasmania following a detailed review of existing services by the Department of State Growth.

Across the bus network changes commencing from 20 January 2019 will see significant improvements with increased frequency and reach of services to major towns outside of Hobart.

Sunday services will also be introduced in many areas where none existed.

The changes will deliver an improved public transport network that provides better access to employment, education and services and improves the overall social connectivity of Tasmanians.

A small number of underutilised routes accessed by only a handful of passengers are unviable and will be discontinued or reduced to school term only services, meaning the buses can be redeployed to higher-demand routes.

Staff will also be on hand at key interchange locations for the start of the new services to assist passengers with the new services.

Changes to routes and timetables have been outlined below and new timetables are available online here.

More information on Project 2018 is available here.

Changes commence on 20 January 2019.
