Agricultural research MoU signed in Japan

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Tasmanian Government and leading Japanese agricultural cooperative Japan Agriculture Biei (JA Biei) will provide new opportunities to expand Tasmania’s agricultural production and research industries.

The MoU with JA Biei, based in Hokkaido, locks-in new research and field trials into Japanese vegetable crop growing in Tasmania.

Signed as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Trade and Investment Mission in Japan, it expands on the MoU between JA Biei and TasTAFE signed in 2017 and provides the opportunity for Tasmania to receive a range of Hokkaido seed stock exclusively to our state. It means Tasmanian farmers can develop new export opportunities in the Japanese market as well as locally.
