Regional Revival Fund Grant Program 2016

The Regional Revival Fund Grant Program was open to private sector businesses and local councils (including council-owned businesses) with $5 million available to assist with capital costs associated with new, or upgrading, economic, environmental and social infrastructure projects that will generate or sustain ongoing economic activity and jobs.

The program enables jobs to be created in regional Tasmania through assisting eligible proponents to bring forward projects that would otherwise be delayed or not proceed allowing them to generate or sustain ongoing economic activity and jobs.

Approximately $2.2 million was made available through the latest round of the fund through an Expression of Interest process and grants are for no more than one-half of the total capital expenditure of an applicant's project. This builds on the initial commitment of $2.8 million through the fund for projects that were time-critical and where an urgent commitment of funding was necessary.

One-off grants of between $100 000 and $2 million per project were on offer to eligible applicants for projects that best advance the objectives of the fund.

The September 2016 round of funding saw $2.2 million in funding awarded for eight new projects that are expected to create 95 direct jobs during the investment phase as well as an estimated 170 ongoing positions.

Regional Revival Fund 2016 projects:

Insulation Panel Project
FH Management, Westbury, will receive $200 000 to allow for a $628 000 expansion and enhancement of their existing manufacturing facility which produces environmentally sustainable insulated panels for floor and roof construction.

Hellyers Distillery
Whisky Tasmania Pty Ltd, Burnie, will receive $250 000 to allow for a $1 010 000 upgrading of bottling line and related infrastructure to service increased sales growth and demand for single malt products.

Meander Valley Berries
RB and KJ Dornauf, Hillwood, will receive $600 000 to allow for a $2.205 million expansion of existing berry farm (strawberries 10ha to 15 ha, raspberries 5ha to 7.5ha) through the purchase and installation of poly tunnels, growing tables, substrate and irrigation systems.

Udderly Tasmanian
The Cow Care Company Pty Ltd, Ouse, $200 000 to allow for a $1.45 million project involving new visitor experience integrated within an expanded dairy farm.

Ettrick Rocks
Samange Pty Ltd trustee for Guidice Family Trust, King Island, $200 000 to allow for a $1.4 million project involving the development of new luxury accommodation on King Island.

St Helens Point Holiday Park
Growth Developments Pty Ltd, St Helens, will receive $250 000 to allow for a $5.1 million project involving construction of new holiday park facility, comprising 16 self-contained luxury cabins, 20 powered sites and 8 unpowered sites, with opportunities for further expansion.

Redlands Distillery
Redlands Distillery Pty Ltd, Kempton, $200 000 to allow for a $1.2 million development of new whisky and spirits distillery, cellar door and visitor centre.

Murrakei Berry Fruits
Murrakei Family Trust, Red Hills, $300 000 to allow for a $3.8 million poly tunnel project to increase the strawberry production system at existing farm, including 2.4 ha of raspberries and blackberries and new cool store facility.

Previously funded projects:

Southern Waste Solutions, Copping, up to $2 million to assist with construction of a controlled waste facility to enhance Tasmania's record of best practice environmental management and reinforce Tasmania's clean environmental brand.

JBS Australia, Devonport, up to $783 200 to support to invest in new capital equipment and a cost effective hot water production system to deliver an ongoing sustainable operation at the Devonport City Abattoir.
