Accepted concepts

Proposals for new tourism opportunities in national parks and reserves

The projects in the table below represent those where the initial concept has been accepted and are moving through the various stages of formal assessment and approvals.

Accepted proposals will be invited to commence formal assessment and approvals, through the relevant authority, which may include Local, State and Commonwealth Governments, with any associated costs to be borne by the proponent.

Information about each accepted project as per the original submission is provided below, including a link to a project summary.

Terminology around lease/licence negotiation and approval processes has been updated to increase transparency in reflecting projects' current status in the process. The current status of each project is indicated in the table below and is represented by one of the following:

  • Initial concept accepted
  • Commencing formal assessment and approval processes (such as Reserve Activity Assessment)
  • Formal assessment and approval processes (such as Reserve Activity Assessment) underway
  • Final Environmental Impact Statement lodged for assessment
  • Development Application lodged for assessment
  • Final Environmental Impact Statement and Development Application lodged for assessment
  • Seeking other approvals (Commonwealth, World Heritage Centre)
  • Relevant approvals in place, lease/licence negotiations underway
  • Lease/licence signed
  • Lease/licence signed and started commercial operations
  • Lease/licence surrendered
  • Project withdrawn.

Please note, proponents have the right to request the removal of their details from published sources should their project be withdrawn or lease/licence surrendered.
