Andrew Crane

Andrew Crane holds the position of Project Director Cradle Mountain. Andrew’s focus is on delivering the projects identified in the 2016 Cradle Mountain Visitor Experience Master Plan, including working with the private sector to develop the Gateway Village Precinct, as well as options for the development of additional staff accommodation outside the iconic Cradle Mountain National Park and Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. In addition he also manages the Expression of Interest for process for the development of tourism ventures on reserved and Crown land, and provides expert advice on environmental policy and law to the OCG.

Andrew has 25 years’ experience in environmental management, including assessment, regulation,  planning, design, engagement and education, and has led a number of state and national programs involving public, private and research investment. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Utas, as well as tertiary qualifications in project management, risk assessment, and emergency response planning and implementation.

Before joining the Tasmanian State Service, Andrew worked for ENGOs and the Local Government Association of Tasmania on the implementation of Australian Government conservation and digital technology programs, as well as running his own business. Prior to that he had 10 years’ experience in the media, both as an advisor to the ABC and as a journalist in Australia and overseas. He is passionate about the sustainable development of Tasmania to both showcase and protect the State’s unique natural and cultural values.
