David Bennett

David Bennett is Executive Director – Investment, with the Office of the Coordinator-General. David’s focus is on attracting and facilitating investment in Tasmania. This is done through leading activities to promote Tasmania as an investment destination and working with businesses looking to establish, expand, or relocate to Tasmania. In his role, David works across a wide range of industries, with all levels of Government, along with many other key stakeholders, in order to achieve the goal of making it easier to do business in Tasmania and reducing barriers for investment.

David has extensive experience as a Senior Executive Manager in leading Tasmanian businesses, primarily working across the agriculture, food manufacturing and tourism industries. As Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for TasFoods, a Tasmanian based ASX-listed food business, David developed extensive experience in high level business development and analysis activities for national and local brands based in Tasmania. David was a founding member and is a former Chair of the Cradle to Coast Tasting Trail steering committee, where he was able to use his experience in tourism to help a range of businesses and government stakeholders in the development of a synergistic regional food and drink experience.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws, with honours in law, and a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Tasmania.
