New Multi-Sport Facility

Render of the sports facility

The Tasmanian Government has allocated $49 million to develop a new community multi-sport facility and JackJumpers High Performance facility at Wilkinsons Point.

Tasmanian firm ARTAS Architects, working with global architecture firm Populous and other Tasmanian businesses, has designed the multi-sport facility. Schematic design is complete and incorporates feedback from community sporting groups and the JackJumpers.

The community indoor multi-sport facility and the high-performance training facility for the JackJumpers will be conjoined and located next to the redeveloped MyState Bank Arena.

The four-court community facility design caters to local and regional basketball, netball, volleyball and futsal training and competition, and programming opportunities for other sports traditionally played in indoor sports halls. The facility also features a purpose-built community gymnastics facility.

The JackJumpers high-performance training facility incorporates two courts, a gym, massage, recovery, change, toilet, kitchen, lounge, meeting, auditorium, and medical rooms.

The planned Wilkinsons Point multi-sport facility will provide the greater Hobart community with a new contemporary sporting facility and furthers the Tasmanian Government’s objective to improve community health and wellbeing and create more liveable urban centres.

Construction of this new facility is expected to commence in early 2024, contingent on approvals and construction contractor availability.
