Tristan Thomas enjoyed a successful career on the track as a five-time Australian National Champion in the 400m Hurdles.

Tristan first enjoyed success as a junior in 2004 by winning Gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the 400m, and Gold in the Distance Medley, in Bendigo Australia.

In 2005, Tristan won his first National Championship in the U20 400m Hurdles. Tristan would then go on to win the National U23 400m Hurdles in both 2006 and 2008.

In 2006, Tristan was selected for a home Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, competing in the 400m Hurdles and making the semi-finals.

Tristan’s domination of the 400m hurdles in Australia commenced in 2008 as he went on to win the 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2015 National Championships.

In 2007, Tristan won a silver medal at the World University Games as a member of the Australian 4x400m Relay in Bangkok, Thailand.

Tristan experienced some of the best form of his career during 2009. At the IAAF World Challenge in Osaka, Japan he ran a personal best time of 48.86 seconds in the 400m Hurdles to secure a silver medal. At the World Championships in Berlin, Tristan was a member of the Australian 4x400m relay team and was acclaimed for producing an outstanding run, which resulted in the team winning the bronze medal. Later that same year, Tristan would win Gold in the 400m Hurdles, and Gold in the 4x400m Relay at the World University Games in Belgrade.

Tristan missed the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games through injury, however represented Australia at the London 2012 Olympics in the 400m Hurdles.
