Tourism and Hospitality Support

Hospitality Unit

The hospitality industry is fundamentally important to our state’s tourism ecology and is the lifeblood of our regional economies.

A dedicated Hospitality Unit was established within the Department of State Growth in 2018 to support the sector and ensure the industry aligns with the Tasmanian Government’s broader visitor economy objectives, captured in the T21 strategy.

The Unit is central to Government’s work to support experiences that ensure high levels of visitor satisfaction, and drive return visitation, longer stays and higher spends.

Being located within the Department of State Growth means that we can work closely with other significant drivers of growth in the visitor economy such as tourism supply, Skills Tasmania, State Roads and investment attraction.

Our core focus is to foster a strong relationship with the Tasmanian Hospitality Association (THA) as well as the broader hospitality sector, and oversee the management of government funding for the THA.
