Business Events Attraction Fund

The Business Events Attraction Fund enables Tasmania to financially bid for national or international business events that qualify as strategically important to the state. The Fund supports the T21 Visitor Economy Strategy by building Tasmania’s brand in the high-end international corporate and incentive market.

    An event’s suitability for support will be assessed against a number of criteria including:

    • how it relates to a key Tasmanian trade or business sector;
    • its ability to drive visitation to the state;
    • the extent to which it supports regional yield and dispersal; and
    • its potential to leave a legacy in the state.

    Events that have received direct funding from elsewhere within government are not eligible for funding from the Fund. If a business event receives support from the Fund, it is ineligible for similar Tasmanian Government support.

    Funding assessments are guided by the following criteria which are considered by both Business Events Tasmania and the Department of State Growth assessment panel:

    1. Strategic sectoral importance
    2. Deliver significant economic benefits to Tasmania
    3. Driving regional yield and dispersal
    4. Legacy opportunities for Tasmania
