Sam Beltz

Olympian and World Champion rower Sam Beltz was a member of the Australian Rowing Team for 15 years.

Born in Hobart, Sam rowed with the Lindisfarne Rowing Club and trained with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport while also studying and working as a physiotherapist.

In 1999, Sam joined the Australia Rowing Team and went on to win a number of medals for Australia.

Sam first represented Australia in the under 23 crew at the Nations Cup, in Hamburg, where he claimed a bronze medal in the under 23 Lightweight Men’s Quadruple Sculls.

In 2003, Sam won a silver medal in the Lightweight Men’s Quadruple Sculls at the World Championships in Italy.

In 2010, Sam won a silver medal in the Lightweight Men’s Four at the World Rowing Championships.

The highlight of Sam’s career was when the Lightweight Men’s Four won gold at the 2011 World Championship title in Bled, Slovenia.

Sam represented Australia at the Beijing Olympics 2008 and London Olympics 2012.

Sam last competed for Australia at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in the Lightweight Men’s Four.

The Tasmanian Institute of Sport inducted Sam Beltz in the TIS Champions Club in 2016.

Following retirement from sport, Sam is focusing on family life and physiotherapy career specialising in workplace rehabilitation and injury management.
