Tasmania’s own ‘defence force’ sets sail

Tasmania’s home-grown ‘defence force’ companies supplying world-class products and services to navies, armies and air forces around the globe have arrived in Sydney for the 2022 Indo Pacific 2022 International Maritime Exposition.

This year’s Tasmanian contingent at the biennial maritime showcase is the biggest ever and builds on the success of our attendance that the past three events have generated.

Indo Pacific is the premier event for buyers and senior decision makers across defence, customs, navy and industry to get a close-up look at the equipment, technology, and services that will give them the technical and strategic edge.

More than 650 exhibitors from 22 nations will be fighting it out for the attention of some 180 industry, government, defence and scientific delegations from 48 countries who are looking for the innovative solutions that will take their equipment to the next level.

The Tasmanian exhibit at this year’s event will also be the biggest ever, and one of the biggest of any exhibitor, and is proudly supported by the Tasmanian Government and led by our Defence Advocate, Rear Admiral (Rtd) Steve Gilmore AM CSC.

Importantly, buyers at the event will include almost 50 international naval delegations and 21 Chiefs of Navy from across the region and further, many with cheque books at the ready.

Tasmanian delegations to the event as well as similar expositions over the past five years are estimated to have helped secure more than $30 million in contracts for our local companies and organisations.
