Biosecurity Risk

If you are travelling to or from Indonesia, be aware of biosecurity risks that pose problems for our agricultural industry.

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) are emerging in Indonesia and efforts are currently underway nationally to reduce the risk of these diseases entering the country.

While most of the risk should be caught at the Commonwealth Biosecurity level as flights land in major capital cities, there is a secondary risk with the biosecurity matter not being caught and travellers taking connecting flights into Tasmania.

The diseases can be carried in soils (on shoes) and other products.
