Contractor and employee programs
Under the 2013 Tasmanian Forests Intergovernmental Agreement (TFIGA) the Australian Government has provided $20 million to the Tasmanian Government to support forest contractors and employees affected by the industry transition.
A number of programs have been completed under this funding and can be viewed via this link, completed contractor and employee programs.
The current programs are detailed below:
Forestry Better Business Program
The Forestry Better Business Program is a voluntary accreditation scheme for forest contractors. The accreditation standards are based on existing industry standards and link to relevant Acts and Regulations. For more information about the program, visit ForestWorks’s Forestry Better Business Program webpage.
Training and Skills Development Service
The Training and Skills Development Service (TSDS) assists Tasmanian forest and timber industry workers to undertake training to develop their skills to meet the requirements of new job roles and responsibilities. This service also enables workers to gain formal recognition for skills they already possess.
