White Ribbon Accreditation Program
White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end violence against women, to promote gender equity and respectful relationships.
The Department of State Growth is seeking accreditation under the White Ribbon Australia Workplace Accreditation Program, which provides organisations with the tools to be able to respond to incidents of violence, whether it occurs inside or outside the workplace, and to prevent this violence from occurring in the first instance.
The Workplace Accreditation Program specifically addresses the issue of gender discrimination and domestic violence, and provides organisations with a structured framework to examine current policies, procedures, training and communication then refine and implement new initiatives where necessary.
The Program is underpinned by the White Ribbon Campaign, which is about recognising the positive role that men play alongside women in preventing violence against women.
The Accreditation Program is a rigorous process over more than a year, in which the Department will contribute to achieving the White Ribbon vision of creating an Australian society in which all women can live in safety, free from violence and abuse.
By becoming a workplace that actively takes steps to prevent and respond to violence against women it enable us to:
- become a leader and driver of social change;
- improve workplace safety and mental health;
- educate and increase the skills of our employees to manage these issues;
- increase productivity and reduce absenteeism; and
- become a supportive and inclusive workplace that values respectful relationships, equality and diversity.
