The Tasmanian Government is committed to continued collaboration with the seafood sector. Following consultation with the peak industry body the Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council and representatives from the seafood sector including abalone, mussels, oysters, rock lobster, scallops, scale fish and wild caught fisheries, the sector has identified the following priorities:
- To increase brand awareness of Tasmanian seafood
- Diversification of markets
- Support for freight and logistics
- Building resilience and capabilities for the Tasmanian seafood industry
It is important to note that these sector specific initiatives should be considered in context of the Tasmanian Trade Strategy Annual Action Plan 2021 which includes a number of broader actions which also support the sector.
Disclaimer: These initiatives will be delivered over the next 12 months if there are no changes in Government policy due to COVID-19. This is a living plan. The Tasmanian Government will continue to engage with industry to determine actions and priorities.
