Salmon

The Tasmanian Government is committed to continued collaboration with the salmon sector. Following consultation with the sector’s peak industry body and key stakeholders, the sector has identified the following priorities:

  • To increase brand awareness of Tasmanian salmon
  • Expansion of markets
Priority markets
  • Domestic mainland Australia
  • China and Hong Kong SAR
  • United States of America
  • Other ASEAN
Actions
  1. Deliver a Tasmanian seafood specific promotional campaign in the domestic market (“Around the Island in 8 Plates”).
  2. Deliver an Experience Tasmanian seafood event in Sydney for key trading partners and industry stakeholders that showcases Tasmanian seafood, including salmon.
  3. Collaborate with Tasmanian salmon businesses to identify opportunities to promote Tasmanian salmon products in priority markets.
  4. Facilitate and support the Tasmanian seafood sector’s second phase of the Eat More Seafood (EMS) campaign via funding from the Trade Alliance Program.

It is important to note that these sector specific initiatives should be considered in context of the Tasmanian Trade Strategy Annual Action Plan 2021 which includes a number of broader actions which also support the sector.

Disclaimer: These initiatives will be delivered over the next 12 months if there are no changes in Government policy due to COVID-19. This is a living plan. The Tasmanian Government will continue to engage with industry to determine actions and priorities.
