Developing our cultural and creative industries
Tasmania is recognised nationally and internationally for its cultural and creative industries, which attract people to visit our state, create jobs and enhance the Tasmanian way of life.
These industry areas include museums and historic places, festivals and events, visual arts, performing arts, photography, film, design, literature and architecture – to name a few!
To help shape the future of this sector, the Department of State Growth is developing a renewed Cultural and Creative Industries Strategy.
Valuable community consultation forums were held in Hobart, Launceston and Ulverstone during April and May 2019. Contributions were also made through our online discussion platform and survey.
In early 2019 the Department of State Growth finalised a report on the previous Cultural and Creative Industries Strategy 2016 – 2018, detailing the support measures and initiatives that were delivered through this framework.
The second iteration of this strategy (2019 and beyond) will be launched later this year.
