Vita Brown Bequest Bursary 2019-20

Vita Ethel Brown (11 October 1916 – 15 December 2012) generously bequeathed funds to Arts Tasmania.

The Vita Brown Bequest Bursary is open to applicants who are either emerging artists, returning to professional practice or changing artforms.

The Minister for the Arts has approved funding of $2 000 to two applicants in this round.

Funding recommendations were made by expert peers drawn from the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register.

Grants

Amelia Digney - $1 000 towards watercolour paints and brushes

Luke Conroy - $1 000 towards purchasing materials for a textile project

Feedback from the expert peers

The peers gave the following feedback to help current and future applicants.

  • Applicants should explain how the purchase of materials or equipment would have a longer term benefit for a project or arts practice.
  • Applicants should provide detail about their arts practice and its trajectory.
