The Tasmanian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the election for the Tasmanian House of Assembly. It is important during this time that Tasmanian Government resources are not used to communicate political material. As such, no political or election material will be placed on this site.

Arts Tasmania

Loan recipients

If your application is successful, you will receive an email that may include:

  • a letter from the Director of Arts Tasmania
  • a loan agreement for you to sign
  • a direct debit request (DDR) form for you to complete

Receiving a loan does not commit Arts Tasmania to providing you with future funding or support.

If you would like to discuss your loan, please contact Arts Tasmania on 03 6165 6666 or grants@arts.tas.gov.au.

Next steps

You will need to return the signed loan agreement and completed DDR form to Arts Tasmania within 21 days of receipt.

If you won’t be able to return the paperwork within 21 days please contact Arts Tasmania as soon as possible as the offer of loan may lapse without further notice.

Please note - payment of funds can take between 14-21 days from the time that completed paperwork is received.

Conditions precedent and special conditions

Agreements and deeds can include conditions precedent or special conditions.

Arts Tasmania cannot pay out loan funds or provide support until all conditions precedent in your agreement are met.

You can provide information relating to conditions precedent or special conditions to Arts Tasmania when you return the signed paperwork.

You must agree to any special conditions that are included in the agreement or deed.

Security requirements

If your loan is for $10,000 or more, you will need to provide security in the form of a guarantor.

A guarantee is made when a third party, the guarantor, agrees to pay back debt if the borrower cannot or will not.

If you fall behind with your repayments Arts Tasmania will send a written notice (a default notice) to you (as the borrower) and the guarantor. If you don’t respond, Arts Tasmania may initiate legal action to have the debt repaid. If this does not resolve the matter, Arts Tasmania can take legal action against the guarantor and they will have to repay the borrower's debt.

Read more forms of security.

Repaying your loan

Once all paperwork is received, we will set up automatic deductions from your chosen bank account on the agreed day of each month.

An instalment notice will be posted to you at the beginning of each month. You can make additional payments on your loan by visiting Service Tasmania.

Please contact the Loans Services team on 03 6165 5196 if you would like to change your bank account details or increase your payment amounts.

Acknowledgement

The Tasmanian State Government logo should be included on all material about your funded activity, next to the words “Supported by”.

Making changes to your activity

Things can happen unexpectedly that mean that you might need to make changes to how you use your loan funds.

You must always contact Arts Tasmania to discuss any changes before they occur and cannot make changes until you have received written approval from Arts Tasmania.

Acquitting your loan

Every artist or organisation that receives a loan from Arts Tasmania must complete an acquittal report within three months of the supported activity ending.

If your acquittal report shows significant unapproved changes, it may not be accepted by Arts Tasmania.

If you have an overdue or incomplete acquittal you will not be able to receive further funding or support from Arts Tasmania.

You can log in to SmartyGrants and complete your acquittal here:

If you applied prior to 2018 and did not use SmartyGrants, please contact Arts Tasmania on 03 6165 6666 or grants@arts.tas.gov.au to discuss your acquittal.
