Cultural Heritage Organisations (multi-year)

This program offers multi-year operational support to museums, galleries and collections delivering a range of high quality cultural heritage activities that strengthen Tasmania's robust, diverse and vibrant cultural heritage sector, engage and inspire audiences and the wider community, and preserve Tasmania's movable cultural heritage.

Key dates

Opens: 16 August 2021
Closes: 11 October 2021

For activities commencing after 1 July 2022.

Notification will occur within ten weeks of the closing date.

  • Eligibility

    To be eligible for multi-year support, organisations must:

    • be a Tasmanian museum, gallery or collection
    • manage a publicly owned, publicly accessible, permanent collections of movable cultural heritage objects or artworks; and,
    • have (or are working towards) regular opening hours.

    Privately owned collections, federal government collections, Tasmanian Government Business Enterprises and Tasmanian Government Departments are not eligible to apply.

    Applicants must also meet Arts Tasmania’s general eligibility requirements.

    What can I apply for?

    You can apply for up to four years of funding towards the operational costs of a public program which relates to your collection or an exhibition program.

    Activities may include:

    • permanent, temporary or touring exhibitions,
    • education and public programs,
    • the employment of professional museum or gallery staff,
    • marketing and administration costs.

    You can also apply for support to improve professional management of collections. This might include:

    • improving access to collections,
    • the development of museums’ management policies,
    • the care of collections,
    • product development.

    Equipment cannot be covered by grant funds.

    Applications will be assessed by a panel of museum and cultural heritage peers against the criteria of:

    • quality
    • planning
    • benefit.
