Creative Support Small Grants Fund

This program supports Tasmanian artists and groups with grants of between $500 and $2000 to undertake activities which develop their artistic practice.

Eligible activities include:

  • skills development (lessons, workshops or mentorships)
  • purchasing or hiring equipment
  • hiring spaces (studios or venues)

Key dates

Opens: 16 August 2021
Closes: 11 October 2021

Notification will occur within six weeks of the closing date.

Activities and purchases should take place before 1 September 2022.

    To be eligible for support, you must be:

    • an individual artist who has lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
    • a group of Tasmanian artists who have lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months

    All applicants must meet Arts Tasmania’s general eligibility requirements.

    Applications will not be accepted from:

    • incorporated organisations or private companies
    • an entity without an ABN
    • an individual who has not lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
    • groups with members who have not lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
    • an entity seeking support towards an activity or purchase that has already occurred
    • entities seeking support towards conferences, business events, awards events, fundraisers or eisteddfods
    • any State or Local government body, government agency or government business enterprise
    • public and private primary schools, high schools and colleges
    • non-arts and cultural venues
    • screen practitioners and production companies.

    What can I apply for?

    You can apply for support towards:

    • skills development (lessons, workshops or mentorships)
    • purchasing or hiring equipment
    • hiring spaces (studios or venues)

    Activities must be relevant to the applicant’s artistic practice.

    How much can I apply for?

    You can apply for $500 to $2000.

    Applications will be assessed by a multi-artform panel against the criteria of:

    Quality:

    • Is the   activity or purchase relevant to the applicant’s artistic practice?
    • Why is the   proposed activity or purchase important?
    • Are the   key personnel experienced, or have the potential to develop and grow?

    Planning:

    • Is the   timeline reasonable and achievable?
    • What   relevant partnerships or mentorships are in place to help drive the activity   or purchase?
    • Is any   capital expenditure related to the applicant’s artistic activity?

    Benefit:

    • How does   the proposed activity or purchase benefit the applicant, the artist or the   community?
