Tasmanian South Asia mission
Tasmania’s first-time 10-day trade mission across South Asia was held in September 2016. It brought together senior government and business leaders from the Tasmanian education, energy, tourism, and food and beverage sectors with their counterparts in India and Sri Lanka, with stop-overs in Indonesia and Singapore.
These partner nations are some of the world’s biggest and fastest-growing economies and our neighbours in in South Asia.
The Tasmanian South Asia mission strengthened our economic links while showcasing a taste of what the pristine and innovative island state of Tasmania has to offer visitors, students and investors.
It entailed government and business meetings with new and existing investors, education and business showcase events, business, tourism and education roundtable events, and a showcase of Tasmanian produce.
