Support for a Tasmanian hydrogen industry
The Tasmanian Government is committed to developing a Tasmanian renewable hydrogen industry, and has established a comprehensive $50 million over 10 years package of support measures.
These include a $20 million Tasmanian Renewable Hydrogen Fund and $20 million in concessional loans. Additional measures include up to $10 million worth of support services including competitive electricity supply arrangements and payroll tax relief.
This support will help activate hydrogen industry development and reduce investor risk, recognising that international and domestic markets are still emerging and hydrogen technologies are not yet mature.
These support measures will be available for projects and activities relating to renewable hydrogen production, storage, distribution, export and use within Tasmania and will be made available through a competitive Expression of Interest process to ensure the best projects for Tasmania receive support.
Further details of the EOI process will be released in due course.
