Red meat

The Tasmanian Government is committed to continued collaboration with the red meat sector. Following consultation with the peak industry body the Tasmanian Farmers and Grazers Association and key stakeholders in the red meat industry, the sector has identified the following priorities:

  • Increased brand awareness of Tasmanian red meat products
  • Expansion of markets
  • Support for freight and logistics

  • Singapore
  • Other ASEAN
  1. Commence development of US Red Meat Supply Chain Tour and Promotional Campaign in collaboration with industry partners.
  2. Collaborate with Tasmanian red meat businesses to identify opportunities to promote Tasmanian red meat products in priority markets.
  3. Support red meat industry development to increase trade, marketing, value and sales of Tasmanian red meat by providing input to the Tasmanian Red Meat Industry Steering Committee.

It is important to note that these sector specific initiatives should be considered in context of the Tasmanian Trade Strategy Annual Action Plan 2021 which includes a number of broader actions which also support the sector.

Disclaimer: These initiatives will be delivered over the next 12 months if there are no changes in Government policy due to COVID-19. This is a living plan. The Tasmanian Government will continue to engage with industry to determine actions and priorities.
